Sgt. Bernard L. Sembly II of Bossier City, Louisiana was a 1999 graduate of Huntington High School and the oldest of three children. His father, a manufacturing production supervisor for GM and Nissan supplier Plastech of Shreveport, served 10 years in the Army and encouraged his son to also join the service. Bernard had an 18-month-old son. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was killed when he was shot while conducting dismounted combat operations in Baghdad at age 25.
