Death of Lura Sterner
The community was greatly shocked on account of the death of Miss Lura Sterner, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Sterner, which occurred at the home of the parents in this city at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
Lura together with other members of the Sterner family was taken ill with the grippe and while having the grippe developed a very severe appendicitis. For this she was successfully operated Tuesday night of last week, and she rallied well from the operation, but she developed [ four or five words unreadable ] stomach remained intolerant to nourishment throughout her illness; which was more than her rather frail body could withstand.
Lura Jane Sterner was born in Madison, Nebraska, July 1st, 1904, and the greater part of her life was spent in this city. She was a beloved member of the M. E. Sunday School and one of the most faithful attendants.
Miss Lura was a favorite among her associates who will greatly miss her pleasant companionship. She was mature beyond her years and displayed unusual tact and skill in cooking as the many premiums won by her at the fair attest.
Beside her parents she leaves two brothers, Everett and Alfred and many relatives to mourn her untimely death.
The funeral was held from the Methodist church Thursday afternoon. In the absence of the pastor, Dr. J. E. Farmer of the Presbyterian church officiated. The pall bearers were members of the Boy Scouts' class in Sunday School.
Interment was made in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
