Sarah married Abial Blanchard Foy on June 8, 1861 in Burlington. On the 20th of the same month, Abial mustered in to Company G, 2nd Regiment, Vermont Volunteer Infantry. He mustered out 3 years later. After his return, the couple lived in Burlington until at least 1880, and moved to Rutland, Vermont by 1890.

On the 1890 Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War, Abial did not list any disabilities, but noted "Mrs. Foy attended her husband & acted as hospital nurse 2 1/2 years." Like her mother, Sarah received a pension for her service.
By 2008, no visible gravestone marked Sarah's burial site. In 2017, the organization Vermont in the Civil War placed a gravestone for her to honor her largely unrecognized service.

- Harriet "Hattie" Perry, married John Newton Kellogg, and died in Rutland in 1896
- Allen Lovinus, born March 17,1871, married Florence M. Crocker, died January 28, 1901 in Rutland.
