Myra S. Wright, 93, formerly of Valdosta, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at her home. She was born June 13, 1921 in Valdosta, Ga., to the late John Newton and Sarah (Mathis) Swindell. Mrs. Wright graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1942 where she studied music. She was employed by her Uncle Dr. James H. Keene as a contact lens technician in Miami, Fla. Myra and her family moved to Long Island, N.Y. where she was a choir director for Calvary Baptist Church in Bay Shore. She was also a Den Mother when her son was a Cub Scout. Besides being a choir director she played the violin. Myra was involved with Evangelism Explosion. She had given her life to Christ at an early age. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and for her witty sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Howard Raymond "Ray" Wright, Jr. whom she married on Oct. 5, 1946 and who passed away on Feb. 27, 2003. Survivors include her son Howard Raymond "Ray" Wright, III of Chestertown, N.Y.

Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. this evening, Nov. 7, 2014 at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Pine St. Chestertown, NY 12817.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 8, 2014 at Faith Bible Church 15 Foster Flats Rd. Chestertown with the Rev. Roger Richards officiating. Memorials may be made to the Faith Bible Church P.O. Box 375 Chestertown, N.Y. 12817. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta, Ga.
