Mrs. Susanna Franje, the daughter of Judocus and Yanna Verhagen, was born in Zeeland, a province of the Netherlands, February 7, 1886, and passed away at her home, 1200 Columbus St., Pella, on Friday, November 9, after a short illness.

In the year of 1907 she was united in marriage to Jacob Franje and came to America to make their home in 1924. The family home was established on various farms in the Pella community. The year 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Franje retired to their present home in Pella.

Mrs. Franje was a kind mother, a good neighbor and a faithful worker for her Lord. She made her church home at the Third Reformed Church of which she was a member.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Jacob in 1951, and one daughter, Lucy, in 1924, just before the family came to America.

Surviving her passing are three children, namely, Doris of Otley, Mrs. Jennie Bogaards of Leighton, Martin of Des Moines, nine grandchildren, and two brothers living in Holland.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, 1956, at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home, the Rev. Russell J. Redeker officiating. Interment was made in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pella. Acting as casket bearers were Mr. William Willemsen, Mr. Cornelius Keuning, Mr. Cornelius Rus, Mr. Ralph Vander Wal, Mr. William Grootveld, and Mr. Raymond Vander Wilt. Mr. Godert Vander Hart, accompanied by Mrs. Bertha Bogaards, rendered two selections, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and Psalm 42:1.
