EDITH CATHERINE TOLLIVER, age 89, of Hemet, CA, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014, surrounded by her family. Edith was born September 6, 1925 in Greenup County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Reece M. Bowling, and the late Nancy Elizabeth (Knipp) Bowling.

She graduated from Olive Hill High School in 1943. Edith started teaching at the age of 18 in Calfax, KY. She lived in Detroit, MI for 2 years, then returned to Kentucky to continue teaching. Moved to San Jacinto in 1963, taught for 32 years in the San Jacinto Unified School District and retired at age 70 but continued substitute teaching until age 85. She was a member of Valle Vista Baptist Church, Morehead State University Alumni Assoc., Delta Kappa Gamma Educators Sorority. She enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Tolliver, siblings June DeBord, Wilberta Mauk, David Bowling & Denny Korbin and one grandson Ernest Tolliver. She is survived by her children, Gary & Linda Tolliver, Rod Tolliver, Jim & Ruth Tolliver, Bill & Linda Wheeler & Homer V. & Cindy Tolliver, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2014 from 9-10am and Funeral Service will be at 10am, both at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel in Hemet, CA. Graveside service will follow at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.
