Mrs. Lois E. Schroyer, 64, longtime Walkersville resident, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Johns Hopkins Hospital following an extended illness. She was the loving wife of Austin Schroyer. They were married for 46 years.

Born November 9, 1949 in the family home in Keymar, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Stitley Dougherty.

Lois was owner and sole operator of Lois's Silver Sizzors in Walkersville for 40 years. She was a hairdresser for 46 years until retiring this past August due to her illness. She was active in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walkersville, as well as the Walkersville Fire Company and Rescue Company.

She loved spending time traveling with her husband. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her four grandchildren, especially her grandson, Hayden, who spent the summers with her.

Lois loved life and held the relationships she had with her clients and friends close to her heart. She will be greatly missed by the many friends she made over the last 60 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Heath Schroyer and wife, Kim; daughter, Heidi Criswell and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Sierra, Cameryn, Carson, and Hayden; and her brothers, Ron Dougherty, Harold Dougherty and Stuart Dougherty. She will be remembered by her good friends and travel companions, Robert and Sandy Measle.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Mark Dougherty, who just recently died on October 28th.

The family would like to thank her doctors, especially Dr. Borrello, and Amy Sidorski, PA, at Johns Hopkins for the loving care given to Lois, and to her caregivers, Theresa Wagaman and Kim Ridenour.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Foucart and Rev. Tim May.
