Services for Mrs. Della Irene Hopkins, 89, of Waterproof, were held October 24, 2003, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Ferriday. Interment was in Monclova Cemetery in Waterproof.
Mrs. Hopkins died on October 22, 2003 in Ferriday. She was born July 22, 1914 in Quitman to James Henry and Lilla Victoria Darnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Gary Shearer and Blane Hopkins; and a son-in-law Buddy Raley.
Surviving are her husband, Harvey Hopkins of Waterproof; three sons, J. E. Hopkins of Waterproof, Phillip and Laney Hopkins both of Mendenhall, Mississippi; seven daughters, JoAn Raley of Enterprise, Alabama, Patsy Shearer of Vidalia, Sheryl Abernathy of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Nelda Rabb of Ridgecrest, Pam Norwood of Waterproof, Karen Owens of New Hebron and LaDean McDaniel of St. Joseph; twenty one grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
