JoAnn was raised in the Smithville area and graduated from Smithville High School before attending Business College in Austin. She married Walter William Hofferek on January 24, 1959 in Smithville, TX. She was a homemaker all her adult life and stayed home to raise their children.
She enjoyed cleaning, in fact, she was seldom seen without a without a broom in her hand or dish washing gloves on her hands. Once the grandchildren arrived, her attention was shifted to spoiling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Diehl, and June Allen, brothers, Jack, George and Jerry Yancey.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
