Evelyn Frances (Prinz) GUSTAFSON

Evelyn Frances (Prinz) Gustafson, 90, of Elgin, went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 31, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born September 29, 1924, in the Type Community, to Fritz and Louise (Nehring) Prinz. She was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coupland, TX. She Graduated from Coupland High School on May 28, 1943. She married Leslie Gustafson on September 18, 1943. They celebrated 52 years of marriage until his death in 1995. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Elgin.

She was a kind hearted woman with a very strong Christian faith, sharing God's love with those she met. She loved listening and dancing to Polka bands on Sundays at the SPJST Lodge in Elgin. Evelyn was also an active member of the SPJST Lodge 18 in Elgin, where she was the 1996 State Fraternalist of the year.

After retiring from Elgin Butler Brick, she started caring for some of her Great Nieces (Christy, Candace, Misty and Melissa). She always looked forward to spending time with family more than anything.

Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, James Prinz and wife Denise; Lois Kruger and husband Randy; Margaret Taylor and husband Calvin; Geraldine Ross and husband Wayne; Helen Hengst and husband Dennis; Betty Gola and husband Thomas; Patsy Payne and husband Ward; Janet Evans and husband Gary; Edgar Prinz Jr. and wife Dianna; Joyce Riddles, Wanda Kay Remmert and husband Ronald; Karen Loew and husband Christian and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Gustafson, her parents Fritz and Louise (Nehring) Prinz, two brothers, Raymond Prinz, Edgar Prinz and Nephew Roger Prinz.

The family wishes to extend special gratitude to the following caregivers: PFamily Tree Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church-Elgin or ones charity of choice.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 7, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 8, 2014, Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Elgin Cemetery.
