Kiowa County Press, June 18, 2010

Verle Ross Bean was born on June 15, 1946, to Evertt Ross and Laura Mildred (Bond) Bean near Crowley, Colorado. Also welcoming his birth was his 16-year-old sister, Betty Jean Bean. After going to schools in Crowley and Ordway, Verle graduated with the class of 1964 at Crowley County High School in Ordway. He as active in track, basketball, FFA, and rodeo. He spent much of his free time riding and breaking horses with his father, cousins, and uncles. Verle attended college in Pueblo, dropping out periodically to make enough monet to go back.

In 1968, he married Judy Jones. To this marriage were born two children: Clint in 1971 during Verle's final week in college, and Amy in 1975 after the family had moved east of Eads. After student teaching at La Junta Middle School, Verle took a teaching job at Eads on Friday, December 13, 1971, when Clint was just 4 months old. Judy began teaching in the Eads system in the fall of 1972, and both retired at the end of the school year in 2001. Though his first career choice would have been ranching, Verle was a good teacher. He never gave up on someone "not being a burden on society." Verle felt it was the right of everyone to reach his or her fullest potential, and he believed strongly in the American public school system. He loved branding time, team roping, and living in the country.

Verle was a good father and grandfather. He leaves his son Clint of Wiley and daughter-in-law, Tonya, granddaughter Aly, and grandson Justin; his daughter Amy of San Diego, CA, and son-in-law Dave and their children, Camden and Emily French.
