Silver Service of 87 Pieces Presented as Testimonial of Esteem Surprise Party Is Given to Host on Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary. Unexpected was the surprise given Henry F. B. Blote, the oldest employee in point of service on the Chronicle, when he celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of his wedding March 18th. Blote, who
has served the Chronicle for 42 years, recently completed a new home at 1658 Nineteenth Avenue, and he planned a house warming for the night of March 18th for the pleasure of his coworkers and friends. The testimonial of the esteem which Blote is held took the form of a silver service of 87 pieces. Attaches of the several departments of the Chronicle, numbering about 50 assembled at Blote's new home. Blote expected many of his friends to call during the evening, but the large number of smiling faces that greeted him when he answered the bell was unanticipated. Not only did Blote's friends overwhelm him with their gifts, but they made him further grateful when they took charge of his home that evening and arranged a program which made the occasion an enjoyable one.
