Russell Lynn Gregerson 75, a resident of Cherry Grove,Pa. passed away on Wednesday,July2,2014 at Warren General Hospital. Russell was born August 16,1938 in Cherry Grove, Pa. The son of the late Andrew and Elma Wilbur Gregerson. Russell was proud to say that he was the last boy born in Cherry Grove with the help of a midwife, his grand mother, the late Cora Temple Wilbur. He lived in Cherry Grove his entire life. Throughout Russell's life he worked many different jobs. He worked as an oil pumper in the Arnot for Bower and Erickson's. He worked with the railroad in Kinzua ,Pa loading railcars with wood. He was a founding member of the Cherry Grove Fire Dept. Russell was a forest fire warden and would attend many get-together's dressed as Smokey Bear. Russell was a Cherry Grove Twp. Supervisor for 47 years. He was also a foreman for Penn Dot for 25 years. In his spare time he ran the Gregerson Mountain Laurel Farm and raised cows,chicken,pigs and goats. He enjoyed hunting ,fishing and his family and friends. Russell will be remembered by his compassion for people. He took many people in his home and made sure they had what they needed. Never asking for anything in return. He and his son Marvin where instrumental in building the Mystery Well replica for Cherry Grove. He truly loved his wife Susan ,children and grandchildren. Football and Wrestling you could hear his voice cheering on his children and grandchildren. He was the youngest of 13 children. Surviving sisters are A. Elise Shaffer(Norman)Lander Pa. and Josephine Baker of Clarendon, Pa. Also surviving are his wife Susan Gebhart Gregerson whom he wed 52 yrs. ago Oct.13,1962. His son Todd, daughter Molly, son Steven and wife Carol, and daughter Jenny and husband Scott Rose all of Cherry Grove.7 grandchildren Steven, Nicole, Austin, Emma, Abby Gregeson and Shalyn and Chyann Rose. Also his dogs Gunner and Taz. Sister in law Ethel Gregerson and brother and sister in law Paul and Shirley Gebhart, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Russell's son Marvin passed away in 1987 also siblings that passed are sisters, Ethel Kreider, Anna Bateman, Bertha Gregerson, Edna Atwood, and brothers Magnus, Louis, Peter Otto(Donald Markus),Lawrence, Roy and Cecil Gregerson. Friends will be received at Peterson Blick Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday, July 6 from 5 to 8 pm. Calling hours will be held also at the Cherry Grove Fire Hall on Monday July 7 11am to 1 pm at which time a funeral service will be held. Burial to follow at the Gregerson Cemetery.
