H. Francis Burns, 86, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday morning, November 4, 2014 He was born January 20, 1928 in Seneca County, Jackson Township, to the late Anthony “Tony” and Rose Victoria (Theis) Burns. Surviving are three daughters, Jeanette (Duane “Suie”) Frankart, of Fostoria, Linda (Leonard) Frias, of Findlay, and Victoria (Cecil) Gibson, of Findlay; grandchildren, Jennifer Hoover, of Carey, Angela Blausey, of Fostoria, Roxanne Thallman, of Raymond, Jamie Foor, of Pataskala, Brett Frankart, of Kansas, Erica Tabler, of Oregon, Jill Jones, of Findlay, Leonard Frias III, of Perrysburg, Stacey Taylor, of Fostoria; two step grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Burns, Tiffin. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Burns, and a sister, Marquerite Rasey. Francis was the owner of Burns Realty in Fostoria for 30 years and was past President of the Fostoria Realtor Board. He was also a former Superintendent for the Department of Transportation of Hancock County Ohio, a former Fostoria City Councilman and a Seneca County farmer. He was past President of Fostoria Kiwanis and the Jaycees. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus of Fostoria Council # 1197, where he was past Grand Knight, and a 4th degree member of Fr. Raymond G. Kirsch Assembly # 845, Fostoria. He was also a member of the Elks and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He was a gifted conversationalist, enjoyed the company and friendships of others, and his door was always open to listen and help others. He will be dearly remembered for sharing comical stories of his life experiences over the years, and lived his life to the fullest. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where the 4th degree will have an honor guard from 6-8 pm with a chalice presentation at 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to St. Wendelin Church and School or the Activities Fund of Good Shepherd Home.
