The daughter of Malcolm and Carolyn Elaine (Gardner) Walton, the victim was a student at Sacajawea Junior High School.
Bonner County deputies said the girl's spine was severed Sunday when she was struck by a boat operated by her mother.
The girl was being towed in circles on a surfboard and had fallen off but was hidden by the boat's wake when the accident occurred, deputies said.
Survivors in addition to her parents include two sisters, Laura Lynn and Jennifer Kay, both at the home, and three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gardner, Spokane, and Mrs. Dorothy Walton, Castlegar, B.C.
