Fred Stephens Jenkins was from Newquay, Cornwall (UK) and in 1943 was 21 years old and Sergeant/Navigator in the 50th RAF Squadron. On March 12, 1943, the Lancaster bomber he flew was shot down. The plane crashed near Wellerlooi and all six crew members were killed. His remains were first buried in an emergency cemetery and later transferred to the Jonkerbos military cemetery in Nijmegen.

In the evening of March 12, 1943, the British bomber Lancaster-MkIII ED449 of the 50th RAF Squadron was shot down. The aircraft crashed near Wellerlooi and all seven crew members were killed. The crew consisted of:
