Son of Arthur C. Jost and Carrie V. L. Martin Jost ... Resided on South Bradford Street, Dover, Delaware ... Killed in action over Germany ... Moose Squadron No. 419 Canadian Air Force

He was born Aug. 2, 1911, in Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Canada, where he also resided. His father was living later in Dover, DE. He was the squadron leader, and pilot on his 35th trip over Germany. Their plane was hit going over the small town of Roermond, Holland. He called for his men to bail, and he steered the plane away from a sure crash into the town below, and thus sacrificed his life to save theirs.

As a result, there is a memorial in Roermond to the men of that plane, and there is a street in the town named Burton Jostweg (Burton Jost Street).
