Nancy Childers HICKORY Nancy Alice Owens Childers, 77, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. She has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, who was of utmost importance in her life. Nancy loved her family and greatly enjoyed her flowers, her kitties and reading. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She will forever be remembered for her incredible smile. She was born June 3, 1937 in Burke County, N.C., to the late William Boyd Owens and Juanita Johnson Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Connie Childers; and brother, Harold Owens. Mrs. Childers was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Connelly Springs, and had retired from the Hosiery Industry. She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Childers Johnson and husband, David of Icard, N.C., Wendy Childers Proctor of Hildebran, N.C.; three sons, A. Dale Childers and wife, Teresa of Icard, Pastor Tony Scott Childers and wife, Shelia of Connelly Springs, and Derrick Lane Childers of the home; sister, Pauline O. Whisnant of Hickory; grandchildren, Rodney Johnson, Brian Johnson, Chad Johnson, Jessie Childers, Clint Childers, Danielle Childers, Dustin Cook, Jonathan Childers, Brandy Childers Mosteller, Brianna Childers, and Hayley Proctor; 12 great-grandchildren; and best friend, Joann Miller.
