The oldest house in Maysville now standing (1941) is the home, once the tavern of Jacob Boone, located in Front (formerly Water) street, the second door west of Limestone Street. It was not built until 1815 although Jacob Boone came to Mason County in 1786. In this home he and his wife lived until his death, May 4, 1827. Jacob Boone was also "keeper" of the "upper ferry" at Maysville for several years.
