He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Known for his love of horses, he was a reserve world champion of the American Quarter Horse Association, where he still competed in AQHA-registered shows.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Payne with the Rev. Terry Dehart officiating. Burial will follow in the Adamsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 4-8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam Guest Holbrook; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Wendy Holbrook; daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Derwood Ragan; grandchildren, Mariah R. Keith and her husband, Kyle, Madden Ragan, Ethyn Holbrook, Cheyenne Holbrook and Hunter Stone; brother, Larry Holbrook; sister, Lisa Peterson; and mother-in-law, Imogene Guest.
