Edward L. Worley, 71, of Carlisle peacefully passed away with family and friends by his side on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at his home.
He was born on Sunday, Feb. 26, 1939, in Carlisle, a son of the late John R. and Helen L. (Strine) Worley.
He was a 1958 graduate of Carlisle High School and retired from the former Texas-Eastern Transmission after 27 years of service. Ed attended the Carlisle First Church of God. He was a life member and past president of both the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association and the Cumberland County Fire Police. He was also a life member of the former Empire-Friendship Fire Co., Carlisle, and a member of the Fireman's Assoc. of South Eastern Pennsylvania, the Conawago Wood Carvers in East Berlin and the West Shore Carvers. Ed enjoyed hunting, especially during the black-powder season, and wood carving.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Sariann (McCurdy) Worley; a sister, Barbara A. (and her husband, Larry) Creamer of Carlisle; sisters and brothers-in-law Betsy and Arthur Bittinger Jr. and Edna and Ronald McKillip, all of Carlisle; and nephews Matthew and Luke Creamer, Todd and Brian Bittinger and Doug and Dwight McKillip.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, with the Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
