"William Abner "Ab" McDowell was born on March 12, 1872 at McGregor, TX to Dr. and Mrs. William Wilson McDowell. Kate Amilee Valliant was born on Feb. 26, 1880 at Falcon, AR to Dr. and Mrs. James T. Valliant.
Ab and Amilee were married April 5, 1900 at Killeen, TX. Ab came to New Mexico in 1906 and homesteaded five miles south of Kenna. In January 1907 Amilee, with their three children, Kathleen, Claude and Dab, moved to their new home in New Mexico.
Three other children, Gussie, Helen and Bill were born at Kenna. At that time, Kenna was a thriving community with wagon yards, hotels, general stores, saloons, a bank and a newspaper."
