Laurens
Miriam Norwood Hughes, age 78, wife of Bobby Lee Hughes, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Howard Coy and Mildred Burts Norwood. Miriam was a very active member of Gray Court Church of God where she taught Children’s Sunday School. She retired from Winn Dixie.
In addition to her husband, Miriam is survived by her children, Keith Hughes, Vickie Hughes, Robert Hughes (Tammy), all of Laurens; grandchildren, Haley Hughes, Hannah Hughes, and Dana Spoon; great-grandchildren, Kailyn Roberts, Mya Spoon, and R.J. Spoon, and her sister, Dot Norwood Power (Carrol) of Laurens.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jerry Norwood, Paul Norwood, and Chuck Norwood; and her sister, Evelyn Norwood Lathan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Gray Court Church of God conducted by Rev. Fred Bryant, Dr. H. Leon Parker, and Rev. Allen Black with entombment following in Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Laurens.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends in the church from 12:00-2:00 pm on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gray Court Church of God, 8492 Highway 14, Gray Court, SC 29645.
