Bertha M. Rogers
March 17, 1923 - November 1, 2014

Bertha Mae Rogers, age 91 , peacefully passed on November 1, 2014 into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
It was her 71st wedding anniversary. She was born March 17, 1923 in Henagar Alabama to the late John T. and Liza Harris. During the early years of her marriage to James Sa Rogers, they resided in Chattanooga, but moved the family to Ooltewah in 1960 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in vacation bible school and on the church kitchen committee. Bertha was an incredibly strong and independent woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Even at 91 years old, she could still hit you with a "zinger' and then enjoy the laughter with everyone around. She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time in her kitchen. Bertha once told her children not to prepare anything for Thanksgiving because she was having it catered. She then prepared the entire meal herself and laughed with glee that she had once again pulled the wool over their eyes.

Her family will miss her beautiful smile and her loving, compassionate spirit. Bertha was always concerned about how you were doing, regardless of her own challenges, and her attention remained on her family, even when she wasn't feeling well. Her selflessness and sacrifices are a rare example all should embrace. She was a gracious hostess and loved the opportunity to get together with her sisters. Bertha was one of most caring, loving, and giving people and always had a positive attitude. Her faith in God was a beautiful thing to see and a great example for all. Bertha walked with Him in prayer through times of need and joy. Bertha's testimony will be Proverbs 31:28, ' Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
Bertha was loving cared for by her granddaughter-in-law, Trisha Dodson

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband James Sa Rogers; brothers Clarence, Virgil and Marvin Harris; sister Ardelle Stallings.

She is survived by her children, Mable (Tim) Black, Barbara ( Wayne) Dodson, Brenda ( Alvin) Kesley and James 'Butch" ( Rhonda) Rogers; sisters Ann Smith, Othella Lambert and Novella Smith; eight grandchildren; twenty two great- grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren
