Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Lizzie Huff, 89, of Monticello, are planned for today, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Pastor Melvin Henry will officiate. The Rev. James McCray is eulogist. Burial will be in Griggs Cemetery.

Mrs. Huff died Saturday, March 1. The widow of Henry M. Huff, she was born December 16, 1918 in Jones County, the second child of the late Ben and Clara Standifer Braswell.

"Miss Laura," as she was known, accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of Griggs Chapel Church, where she served on the mother's board until her health failed. She was known as a loving and giving woman.

Five siblings preceded her in death, including sisters, Amy Lizzie Dumas, Sally Kate Clemons, Clara Beatrice Ammons and Viola Watson, and a brother, Robert Braswell.

Survivors include a daughter, Thelma Cargile of East Point; grandchildren, Lisa Johnson of Killeen, Tex., Anthony Campbell of Warner Robins and Cheryl Bailey of Hiram; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Carrie Alexander of Decatur; Elean Braswell Steverson of Atlanta, and Lucile Sanford of Wayside, a sister-in-law, Mary Campbell of Monticello, and a host of other relatives.
