His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Operation Iraqi Freedom Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol at age 20.
