Services for Earl R. Cawiezell, 85, of Davenport, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Cawiezell died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
He taught school for seven years and then was employed for 30 years at the Rock Island Arsenal. He retired in 1970.
He was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Muscatine County, Iowa, to Arthur and Ora (Welch) Cawiezell. He married Dorothy Thoeming on Sept. 1, 1937, in Pleasant Prairie, Iowa.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Davenport, and an active member of the Grace Senior Citizens Group, where he served as treasurer for many years. He also was a member of the Davenport Moose and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He loved to be with his family and friends, visit with people, play cards and raise flowers and vegetables in his garden. He also enjoyed watching birds and squirrels that came into his yard.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Marvin Morgan, Davenport; a son, Norman Cawiezell, Davenport; a granddaughter and her husband, Maureen and Greg Littell, Davenport; a grandson and his wife, Todd and Cheryl Morgan, Waconia, Minn.; a granddaughter, Dawn Morgan, Urbandale, Iowa; great-grandsons, Jeffrey and Kyle Morgan, Waconia; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Eunice Cawiezell, Muscatine, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Anne Cawiezell, Rock Island; and nephews, William, Robert and John and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George.
