Funeral Services were held here Tuesday for Glenn T. Harrington Jr., 27 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Terrell Harrington, Sr., who died in a Mississippi hospital Saturday as a result of injuries received in an airplane crash. Services were held at 11 a.m. in the First Methodist church with Dr. B.C.Gamble officiating. Burial was in the Westview cemetery.
Prior to the accident, Mr. Harrington had been spraying crops from the air near Cleveland, Mississippi. Members of the family said that after completing this flight, he later went up with an acquaintance in a private plane. Engine trouble developed during the flight and according to the reports of eye witnesses, Mr. Harrington succeeded in bringing the plane under control and in making a landing one of the wings was ripped off, causing the crack-up in which Mr. Harrington sustained fatal injuries. The second occoupant of the plane remained in critical condition for several days.
Mr. Harrington was a graduate has had several years experience as an aviator, serving as an instructer in a number of Southern cities. He held a commercial licenses and was in the Army Reserve Corps.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Miss Anita Fulcher of Augusta; a one year old son; three brothers, Captain William Harrington, Army Air Corps; Sgt. Ralph Harrington, U.S.Army, and Floyd Harrington, Milledgeville, and one sister, Mrs. T.D. Hutchins, Milledgeville.
