Elvira (Vera) A. Hineline, 91, wife of the late Byron F. Hineline entered into heavenly eternity on October 30, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 3, 1923, she was the last of Carmelo & Carmela Ticino’s six children.

Elvira had many talents that we were all able to enjoy, from her cooking (stuffing) around the holidays, her Christmas cookies and famous homemade bread. She was also very creative in sewing and making a kitchen that her children and grandchildren would enjoy. Vera was very involved with Mt. Carmel Church and enjoyed being part of the choir that inspired her to write “The Mother of Our God”. As a mother, grandmother and friend, her love will be forever missed.

She leaves behind her daughter, Mary Connors and her husband Charles with whom Vera resided; two sons, John B. Hineline and David A. Hineline, both of Meriden. She also had many grandchildren who she loved dearly, Cassie Connors of Meriden, Allie Mackiewicz and her husband Shayne of Southington, Raymond Raffles and his wife Ann of Bristol, Carrieann Read and her husband Dave of Ponder, Texas, Michael Raffles and his wife Lori of Meriden, Jody Lynes, Jennifer Lynes-Greene, David Hineline, and Matthew Hineline. Vera was also blessed with fourteen great and eight great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Carmela Raffles-Brookes and her son-in-law Raymond Brookes, as well as two brothers and three sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m.
