Obituary
James Otley Guthrie, son of Dr. Alexander and Susan Guthrie was born September 21, 1872, at Pella, Iowa. and died Wednesday, July 3rd, at 6 P. M. at Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 18 days.
When a small boy he moved to Perry, Iowa, where he lived until he was 23 yeas of age. For the last 30 years he has lived in Des Moines. He was united in marriage to Blanche M. Moffit, April 5, 1901. To this union two children were born, Marvel Louisa who died twenty years ago and Harry E. of McCloud, Calif. He is survived by his wife and son, his stepmother, Mrs. Matty Guthrie, a half brother, John Guthrie of Neoshia, Mo., a niece, Mary Louise Guthrie and two nephews, Allen Bedillan and George Sylvester of Colorado, and an aunt, Mrs. Downing of Sturges.
The remaines were brought to Pella Saturday and a short service was held at the Awtry & Lankelma funeral parlors with Rev. E. V. Goad officiating.
The remains were laid to their last rest in Oakwood cemetery.
