Chester Lyon Rites Held April 1st In California
Funeral services were held Monday, April 1st at the Funeral chapel in Merced, California, for Chester A. Lyon who was killed in a traffic accident on Wednesday, March 27. His mother, Mrs. Elsie Lyon of Swanville, his brother, Gordon Lyon of Minot, N. D., and sister, Mrs. Winifred Farber of Minneapolis drove to Merced to attend the funeral. Burial was made there in the Asphodel Cemetery. Chester was employed with a construction crew and was en-route to his home when the accident occurred. It is not known whether the car (a pickup) which he was driving went out of control or if he dozed off to sleep. He was killed instantly. Chester A. Lyon, son of George and Elsie Lyon, was born in Grey Eagle January 27, 1922 passing away at the age of 35 years, 2 months, and 10 days. He grew up in this community. On October 20, 1951 he was married in California to Miss Mary Louise Guy, who, with two daughters, Sheila Rae and Betty Ann are left to mourn. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Elsie Lyon of Swanville; sisters, Mrs. William G. Chapman, Merced, California and Mrs. Winfred Farber, Minneapolis, and three brothers, Gordon of Minot, N.
