Ruth Lakes Rummel, age 81, of Connersville, passed away on Sunday March 15, 2009 at her residence.
Born on November 22, 1927 in Connersville, she is the daughter of Thomas and Martha Duncil Gabbard, both whom precede her in death.
She retired from Stant Manufacturing in 1994 after 26 years of service and enjoyed crocheting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Riebsomer and Fay Jennings both of Connersville; two sons and a daughter in law, Jerry & LuAnn Keal Lakes and Greg Lakes all of Connersville; two brothers and a sister in law, Owen Gabbard and Dewey & Anita Gabbard all of Connersville; several step-children; step brother, Jesse Isaacs of Connersville; two step sisters, Edna Stevens and Dorothy Witt all of Connersville; eight grandchildren, Lisa Horning, Stacey Riebsomer, Secret Riebsomer, Deborah Jennings, Morgann Jennings, Anitra Lakes, Justin Lakes and Hannah Lakes; four great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Albert Rummel, who she married on April 8, 1977 in Jellico, TN and he passed in August 1987; her first husband, Lendon Lakes whom she married on January 10, 1945 in Jackson County and he passed on April 3, 1960, six brothers, Herman, Clifton, Pebble, Elmer, Jack, and Donald Gabbard; three sisters, Mildred Maupin, Bernice Lakes, and Fain Gabbard; a granddaughter, Natalie Ann Lakes; and a step brother Earl Isaacs.
Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Thursday March 19, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Randall Collins of Connersville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
