Natalie Greene Dies At 80
Natalie Coffin Greene, a member of a family long associated with Ross, died in a local hospital yesterday after a short illness. She was 80.
Mrs. Greene, wife of A. Crawford Greene, long-time San Francisco attorney, was born at the Jonathan Kittle residence in Ross, now the site of the Marin Art and Garden Center.
Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. James Coffin, resided in the house directly behind Mrs. Greene’s home at 1 Shady Lane, Ross, where she and her husband lived since 1917.
Her mother gave the property on which now stands St. John’s Church, of which Mrs. Greene was a life-long member. She and her husband were married there in August, 1912. They celebrated their golden wedding with a garden party in 1962.
She was the mother of Mrs. John G. Lewis, a member of Ross Town Council.
Mrs. Greene was former president of the Protestant Episcopal Old Ladies Home in San Francisco, president of the Visiting Nurses Assn., and a member of the board of the San Francisco Young Women’s Christian Assn.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, James Coffin Greene of Pasadena and A. Crawford Greene Jr. of Ross; three daughters, Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Oliver C. Stine and Mrs. Sheila G. Peck, all of Ross; 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at St. John’s Church tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., directed by Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael.
The family prefers that tributes be memorial gifts to the Protestant Episcopal Old Ladies Home or to St. John’s Church.
