Charles Dominick Angelo, aged 90, died at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 11, 2010.

Charles, son of Anthony Angiolillo and Theresa Marie Conzola, was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania on February 10, 1920.

After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he saw action in Europe during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-24.

He was shot down over Bulgaria on his 30th mission. He was interned in Shumen Prison Camp No. 1 for eight months. He and his comrades were freed by their captors as a conciliatory gesture when the Russian Army was advancing from the east.

Charles was awarded the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Purple Heart.

He married Josephine Addorissio in Dobbs Ferry on November 19, 1944. For fifty-two years, he, Josephine, his sister, Jean, and their daughter, Toni, operated the House of Charm on Main Street, Dobbs Ferry, selling southwest jewelry and international folk art.

During that time, Charles built twenty-five houses in Irvington. He was also an importer of silver from Taxco, Mexico and designer fabrics from Guatemala and Mexico.

Josephine died in 2001. His daughter, Antonia Goodspeed, died in 2007.

Charles is survived by his sister, Jean Cariot, of New York, and his son-in-law, Peter Goodspeed, with whom he lived in Santa Fe.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010 in Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry.
