The newspaper obituary spells the surname: Trousdell; reasons are unknown.

The funeral ceremonies of Mrs. Trousdell (Townsend) were held in St. Joseph’s Church, Friday morning, January 8th at 11 o’clock. High Mass was celebrated, the Rev. F. X. LaChance officiating. In his remarks with respect to the deceased, Father LaChance mentioned her ardent devotion to the church and her ready willingness at all times to do whatever she could for its support and maintenance. He also alluded to charitable and true neighborly disposition and many kind acts performed by her when others were sick and suffering. He spoke with deep feeling of her perfect readiness to pass through the valley of the shadow of death, the home prepared for her by the Savior. The interment was made at the new Roman Catholic cemetery (Calvary) on the main road leading from Essex to Willsboro. Mrs. Trousdell was born in Country Kerry, Ireland, on June 24, 1825. At the age of sixteen she came to this county and on February 22, 1852 was married by Rev. M. McLaughlin at Keeseville, NY to Patrick Tousdell. During their forty-five years of residence in Essex, five children were born to them namely, Mrs. Kate Conery, of Glens Falls, NY, Mrs. Anne Shinners, of Whitehall, NY and Messrs. John, Jeremiah and Patrick H. Trousdell , all of whom reside in Essex. The bereaved husband and family may well mourn for her, who during her entire lifetime proved a faithful wife and a kind, loving and affectionate mother. The interment was made at the new Roman Catholic cemetery (Calvary) on the main road leading from Essex to Willsboro.
