Served in the 4th Infantry Division. During the landing on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944 he was shot in the leg, captured by the Germans and interned as a POW, and rescued by the American Army. He re-enlisted to serve in the Korean War and remained in the military until retirement. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 81 in Cleveland.
