Lee Gensrich was born January 14, 1925, rural Northwood. He attended rural school and grew to manhood in the Hatton community. He received his private pilot training at Grand Forks Municipal Airport, his commercial pilot license in 1974 in Florida, and his seaplane rating at Detroit Lakes, MN, in the 1980's. Lee had flown for 58 years and was a crop duster for many years.

He married Joyce Pierce on January 1, 1948 at Vergas, MN. The couple was lifelong residents of the Hatton community.

He had flown the “Young Eagles””, kids between the age of 8-16 for the “Tree of Life", toys for children at Christmas time and for Air Lifeline, transporting emergency patients. He enjoyed giving kids their first airplane ride. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Associating for over 30 years and had served as President of the Grand Forks Chapter 380. He had attended the EAA convention at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was lifelong member of the Holmes United Methodist Church.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by his two dogs Missy and Chillee and his wife, Joyce; and three sisters, Frances Engel, Cecile (Winfred) Duncan, Lucienne (Millard) Monson, all Hatton.
