Don Harmon Scott, 82, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospital due to a lingering illness. He has lived in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada.
Don was born Sept. 1, 1932 in Idaho Falls to Verl Edward Scott and Julia Fay Harmon Scott. He lived in and attended schools in Ririe, Idaho. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a gunner on the USS Bremerton from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean conflict. After returning from the Navy, he married his sweetheart, Opal Earleen Ricks. They had six children together.
Don was a man with many skills and talents. He retired from Williams Field Service in March 1997 and moved to Twin Falls to be close to Earleen's brothers and sisters. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and be with his family. His family was his greatest love and priority and his pride and joy.
Don is survived by his children, Donalene (Ron) Myers of Clearfield, Utah, Rodney (Carl) Scott of Ammon, Kerry (Peggy) Scott of Rigby, Idaho, Flynn Scott of Twin Falls, ReNae (Keith) Pilgrim, of Benton City, Wash., Carter (Robin) Scott of Hooper, Utah; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery with Military Rites by the Jefferson Veterans Team.
