Roy Beasley "Mr. Baseball" 82, of Texas, formerly of Princeton, W.Va. died suddenly Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Texas. Born December 21, 1931 at Coalwood, he was the son of the late Ernest (Erin) Beasley & Lottie Flanigan Beasley.

Roy was a graduate of Hillsville High School and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the United States Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal, and the Navy Occupational Service Medal.

Roy had lived in Texas for many years having retired from the Stevedore Corporation. He moved to Princeton in 1991 where he met and married his wife, Ruby, whom he loved dearly. While living in Princeton, he was very active with the Princeton Rays organization. Roy & Ruby both will long be remembered for the role they played in mentoring players while in Princeton. They served as parents to many of these players. Roy grew especially close to Josh Hamilton who is now playing professional baseball.

Roy was a member of the Landmark First Church of God in Princeton. Roy will be lovingly remembered in the Princeton area as “Mr. Baseball” because of his knowledge and love for the game.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, ___________ ________; along with four siblings, Harvey Beasley, Donald Beasley, Earlene Flemmingand Millie McGraw.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby Lee Sexton Mitchell Beasley; two children, Robin Beasley and Tony Beasley;

On Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 5p.m. we will celebrate the life of Roy Beasley at Landmark First Church of God, in Princeton with Pastor Scott Hodge officiating.

Inurnment will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Pickett Family Cemetery near Hillsville VA.
