Married, a brewer, he died of external violence.

The Seattle Republican, November 9 1900
"The Bay View Brewery in South Seattle was the scene of a terrible tragedy last Wednesday morning, in
which Leonard Maier was instantly killed by Frank Wager. The men quarreled over some trifling matter
connected with the brewery, and an altercation followed between them.
In the fight; Rager snatched up a brick and threw it at his antagonistwith terrific force. Maier was hit
over the heart and fell instantly, dead, as though he had been pierced by a bullet. It is very apparent from
Rager's statement, which statement has been corroborated by others working in the. brewery, that he hit
Maier in self-defense. The dead man leaves a wife and two children, who live in South Seattle, while
Eager, who is now in the county jail, is unmarried"
