Mrs. Clara Spring, Former Resident here, Dies At Home of Daughter in Wisconsin

Mrs. Clara Spring, 73 years old, well known in Libertyville where she operated a restaurant for 25 years prior to five years ago, died at 2 o’clock Monday morning following a heart attack at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Louis Larsen at Neenah, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Spring has been in ill health for the past year and a half. For a number of years she had been ailing from a weak heart. For the past year she had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Larsen at Neenah.

During the time that she operated a restaurant in Libertyville Mrs. Spring became widely known in Libertyville and Lake county. Her restaurant was patronized by large numbers of local people and was the favorite eating place of the late Dennis Limberry, police chief here for many years.

She disposed of the restaurant which was located in the Bulkley building on N. Milwaukee avenue in the space now occupied by the Oakland-Pontiac sales room, about five years ago and went to live in the Mason house at the southwest corner of the intersection of Milwaukee and Maple avenues. She operated a boarding house here for a few years, going to live with her daughter at Neenah a year ago.

Her husband, C. M. Spring, preceded her in death, passing away in 1918 while on a trip to Spokane, Washington. She is survived by four daughters Mrs. Jack Yoe, of Lake Villa, Mrs. Louis Larsen, of Neenah (with whom she lived), Mrs. Blanche Mastin, of Spokane, Washington and Mrs. E. J. Houlden, of Appleton, Wisconsin. Several grandchildren also survived her.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Libertyville from the Christian Science church at 3 p.m. Christian Science readers officiated at the services. Burial was made in Lakeside cemetery.
