He was born May 20, 1914, in Northwood. He attended rural schools in Union Township. On July 11, 1940, he married Eleanor Harmon in Moorhead. They farmed in Union Township. He had been in ill health for the past two months.
Survivors include his wife; two sons Ernest, Jr. and Richard both of Hatton; three daughters Mrs. Donald (Patty) Huus, Hatton; Marjorie, Fargo; Jane at home; his mother Mrs. Alfred (Mary) Gensrich, Grand Forks; two brothers Leslie and Duane both of Northwood; two sisters Mrs. Frederic (Delores) Ericson, Hatton; Mrs. Ethel Bye, Grand Forks; and nine grandchildren.
