He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Annie George of Bootle, Lancashire and husband of Anne Chapman, they lived at: 1, Richard Martin Road, Ford, Liverpool.

Henry served as a Greaser 70220 on H.M.S. Tynwald, a former Isle of Man Steam Packet passenger ship that was in Admiralty service as an anti-aircraft escort ship. The Tynwald was torpedoed by Italian submarine Argo and sank off Béjaïa or Bougie of the Algerian Coast.
