The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by Rev. Milton Warf and Rev. John Devine. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park with Eastern Star Rites.
A native of Surry County, Mrs. Avery was born Nov. 18, 1919, to James Wesley Baker and Etta Wilma Stevens Baker. She was a Sunday school teacher of The Children of West High Point Church of God for 37 years and she was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 141.
Survivors are husband, Rev. R.C. Avery of the home; son and wife, Ronnie and Gloria Avery of Santa Fe, N.M.; grandchildren, Darrell Avery of Raleigh and Valerie Hall and husband, Dennis, of Belmont; great-grandchildren, Jesse Helms, Amanda Hall and Chelsea Hall.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
