He was born in Chestertown, New York, July 9, 1938, the son of Rodney F. and Marguerite B. (Lamos) Dixon. He grew up in Chestertown and graduated from Chestertown High School. He later graduated from Oswego State with a Bachelors in Technology and Driver Education Instruction. He then received his Masters degree from Plattsburgh State University.
Andy was a technology/driver education teacher at Chestertown High School, Au Sable Forks High School, Lake Placid High School, Saranac Central School, Clinton Essex Franklin BOCES, Clinton Community College, and AuSable Valley Central School. He worked for Torrington Industries and was a Master Instructor for NYS PTSI. He also served as Justice in the village of Keeseville and town of Chesterfield.
He was a member of the several Masonic Lodges, The Shriners, and the Keeseville Elks Lodge BPOE #2072. Andy was an avid classic car collector.
Survivors included his loving wife, Karen A. (Nolette) Dixon; daughter, Dorene Dixon; son and daughter-in-law, Murray and Mary Dixon, all of Keeseville.
He was predeceased by his parents; and parents-in-law, Gerald and Doris Nolette.
Calling hours were held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru, New York. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the Peru Community Church with Rev. Robert E. Svenson, pastor, officiating. Committal prayers and burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Au Sable Forks, New York. Andy's family requested that any antique/classic car owners drove their classic to the wake and/or funeral.
