DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Elizabeth "Betty" Ameskamp, 94, of Dyersville, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Edward Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1907, in Keinbergsen, Germany, daughter of Heinrich and Margaret (Kroeger) Geers. She received her education in Germany.
She was united in marriage to John G. Ameskamp on Feb. 3, 1934, in Chicago. The couple farmed in the rural Dyersville area. Mr. Ameskamp preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1987.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Dyersville.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Rita Ameskamp, of Farley; four grandchildren, Julie (Carl) Prier and Wayne (Sharon) Ameskamp, both of Dyersville, Paul (Mary) Ameskamp, of Elgin, Ill., and Luke (Tammy) Ameskamp, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; and six great-grandchildren, Angie and Kerri Prier, Ryan and Tara Ameskamp and Kyle and Kristi Ameskamp.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John Ameskamp, in 1954, and Aloysius "Al" Ameskamp, on June 18, 2001; and two brothers and a sister.
An Elizabeth Ameskamp Memorial Fund has been established.
