Major League Baseball Player. He played Major League Baseball as a pitcher for ten seasons (1936 to 1943, 1946 to 1947) with the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. He appeared in the 1941 and 1942 Major League Baseball All-Star games, and is best known for being the pitcher who served up New York Yankees Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio's first hit in his record 56-Game Hitting Streak in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, missing the 1944 and 1945 seasons. He finished his career with a 73 Win-113 Loss record, 694 Strike Outs and a 3.82 Earned Run Average.
