Mrs. Rose M. Chamberlain, 85, passed away Sunday, March 04, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Chamberlain worked with Civil Service at Laredo Air Force Base for 20 years until she retired in 1974. At the time of her retirement she was the highest female chief accountant in the Air Force and was presented with the Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
This marked the first time a civilian from LAFB received the award. Mrs. Chamberlain was a member of the Society of Martha Washington, a volunteer with Mercy Hospital Auxillary, and shared her time with the Altar Society's of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Chamberlain, her mother Maria Tejeda and by her granddaughter Audrey D. Laurel.
Mrs. Chamberlain is survived by her children, and by her grandchildren: Mrs. Chamberlain is also survived by five great-grandchildren
