Donald Sills was born on October 30, 1918, in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England, Son of Joseph and Sarah Ellen Sills, and stepson of Mrs. A. L. Sills, of Long Eaton, Derbyshire. He had two brothers. Don was served with the RAF and lost his life when his plane, Whitley T4233 102 Squadron, crashed at Maria-Hoop Limburg Holland...

Took off from RAF Topcliffe at 2258 hrs. Shot down by a night-fighter (Hptm Werner Streib I./NJG1) and crashed 0119 hrs
near Diergaarde/Maria Hoop (Limburg), 12 km SSW of Roermond, Holland. All are buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery.
