She was the daughter of John H. and Susie J. (Forerider) Humes. On Jun 7, 1945, she married Charles M. Burden, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are four sons: Charles L. "Skip" (Gloria), Bourbon, MO, Jerry Lee (Jean), Lima, Dennis Eugene (Robin), Delphos, and Donald Dean (Diana), Texarkana, TX; two daughters: Vickie Dianne (Carl) Hollar and Sandy Rae (Jerry) Hunt, both Lima; a sister, Demarius "Annabea" (Roger) Austin, Lima; and seventeen grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers: Grover Calvin and Owen.
In 1990, she retired as the order room clerk from Scot Lad. Previously, she had worked for Lima Memorial Hospital and Artex. While her husband was a member of the VFW Post 1275, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband were members of the Sues 'n' Ques square dancing club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, bowling, shopping, and traveling, especially going to the Naval Bases where her grandson was stationed and to Florida. She will be remembered as a loving mother, who adored her grandchildren.
Services will be at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with Pastor Don Byard officiating.
